John asks, "I have heard that there is a Linux users group in Coffs Harbour. Do I need to pay a membership fee and is it open to anyone interested in Linux? "
Actually, there are two Linux groups around Coffs. ClubLinux, and LUNCH (Linux Users Near Coffs Harbour). As there's a bit of overlap in the groups, I'm sure that someone better informed than I am will be able to describe how LUNCH works and what they're up to.
As far as ClubLinux is concerned, we are less formal than your average Linux User Group (LUG) - that's very informal indeed. There's no membership fee, because we don't really have members as such. We have been known to have a collection to raise money for tea and bikkies.
We meet once a month, and anybody who's interested is welcome to attend. Check our calendar for the details on our next meeting.
